A New Era

It's hard to believe our program only just started during the summer of 2017. Chicago Sand Volleyball was formed by lifelong friends Alex Hurlburt and myself, Tim Maruyama. In our first year CSV had attracted some of the best sand coaches and players in the Midwest! That summer we where home to nearly 90 boys and 40 girls everyday of summer break. Our kids trained hard, earning 19 bids to the boys open division of the USA JBT Championship in Florida and especially noteworthy was the qualification of a U15 & U17 boys team to compete at the HP A1 National Championship in California.

These accomplishments are merely benchmarks to gauge the direction of our program as we look to become the strongest boys sand program in the Midwest. Our goal is to train and compete at the highest level on a national platform and we are not far from our mark as we enter into year two.

In 2018 we look to continue to be the front runners in the boys sand game in four ways.

  1. Our training program this summer will shift to even more game play (we didn't think that even be possible!). Each 90 minute session will be part group instruction like last year and part organized 2 v 2 game play.
  2. We will be launching Boys Sand Volleyball as a Fall Sport with several schools in Illinois this September. Hosting this in the Midwest is unprecedented and leaves us with goosebumps at the mere thought.
  3. With our eye on the national beach scene we have aligned ourselves with the two most prominent organization in our sport. In June we will be the hosts of the USA Beach National Qualifier & the High Performance A2 Camp. In addition this August we will host the 2019 AVP First Zonal Championship event to qualify for the 2019 championships.

We are entering into a time where the sand game is rapidly exploding around the country and we could not be more excited to lead the charge in the development of the boys game.
